Bowdoin college is considered one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country, historically ranked well and in a good environment. Students compete with themselves, but are more willing to help others. Some departments focus too much on theory and not enough on real-world applications (i.e., computer science departments). The university is more conservative than it lets on.
